Conor Climo, 23, of Las Vegas an armed security guard, former Army engineer, and member of the extremist Nazi white supremacist Atomwaffen Domestic Terrorist organization, had a bomb making factory with chemicals, fuses, other explosive components, converted automatic weapons, & schematics of Jewish synagogues and gay friendly bars he planned to attack, according to a FBI criminal affidavit filed this morning.
"Climo harbors hatred and biases towards various racial and religious groups to include African-Americans, Jews, and Homosexuals," reads the FBI affidavit filed in Las Vegas federal court on Friday. "
Climo, who also was a member of Atomwaffen Division affiliate Feuerkrieg Division, another Nazi terrorist group, was trained in the use, construction, and demolition of explosives while a combat engineer with the U.S. Army Reserve in 2014 and 2015, according to U.S. Army records.
"Members believe in the superiority of the white race and have a common goal of challenging the established laws, social order, and government via terrorism and other violent acts," read the FBI criminal affidavit in Las Vegas federal court Friday
Climo "was discharged from the military after approximately 11 months for actions related to not being able to perform specific required duties," according to the FBI. Climo was attached between November 3, 2014 and May 22, 2015 to the US Army Reserve, 386th Engineer Battalion based out of Sloan, NV, with a speciality of 12B, a Combat Engineer, according to separate U.S. military records. Combat engineers go through 14 weeks of specialized training which include training in building, placing and detonating mines, IED's, and other explosives.
Climo was being held on a charge of possession of an unregistered firearm, specifically the component parts of a destructive device, officials said. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
FBI Agents serving a search warrant on August 8 for Conor Climo at his Las Vegas home where he lived with his mother found a notebook with "hand-drawn schematics" for an attack in Las Vegas, and drawings of timed explosive devices, authorities said.
He used encrypted messaging to discuss attacking a local synagogue near his Las Vegas home and talked about surveilling a downtown Las Vegas bar he thought catered to the LGBTQ community. "I live in Las Vegas and have found an ADL headquarters at 215 & Eastern," Climo allegedly wrote to an undercover FBI agent.
According to the FBI document, in conversations with a "Confidential Human Source" who was a member of the far right wing online community, Climo said "groin and leg shots are good for luring combatants" and "Hell and white phosphorus can be made distilling pee. Add that shit to a good mix of Tiki Torch and Napalm=BBQ Kikes."
Climo "proposed using a test run against homeless people as preparation for an attack against synagogues and community centers," according to the FBI.
Climo and the FBI "Confidential Human Source" discussed targeting power plants. "Climo further discussed identifying a power plant as a good 'soft target, and suggested targeting police leadership as 'Tactical Value Targets' and 'low-level political targets as part of TAC-VT," an abbreviation for tactical value targets, reads the FBI affidavit.
Michael Lloyd Hubsky, also of Las Vegas, was the leader of the Nevada cell for the Atomwaffen Division in 2017 and 2018 and, according to intercepted chat logs from the Discord gaming platform used then by Atomwaffen Division members to organize and communicate with one another, Hubsky wrote "The infrastructure attack does two things. Cuts off the systems ability to move, and communicate. You would want to target things like substations, water filtration plants." Hubsky claimed to have obtained classified maps of the power grid in California.
Hubsky went into essential hiding after he was publicly exposed in a news report by Pro Public in February 2018.
In 2018, Hubsky had a concealed weapons permit and a security guard license, and a Czech CZ Scorpion rifle that, according to Hubsky, he'd converted to fully automatic and equipped with a flash suppressor.
Hubsky wrote that he was planning on getting an "FFL" — federal firearms license — so he could "manufacture" guns. "I can literally become our armory in the event we need it," he wrote.
Hubsky wrote that he had "a map of the US power grid…West-coast only. Classified map. Had someone with special permissions get it."
Hubsky also discussed blowing up natural gas lines.
"You put a home-made thermite grenade on those," he wrote. Hubsky wrote hitting the power grid was, in his view, the most effective attack. Destroying electricity infrastructure, Hubsky wrote, "would by default take out the internet because it relies on power to operate."
When contacted by telephone at his Las Vegas home August 8-the day before the arrest of Climo-Hubsky refused to speak with a journalist. "I said please do not contact this number ever again, which I have on recording. You have now subsequently attempted to contact this number after being asked not to," Hubsky wrote in a text message. ' This is now legally harassment. I will have my lawyers contact you and your organization as you are operating on their behalf…I have no idea what you people are talking about, and third stop calling me."
On an August 8 FBI search of Climo's house, FBI "Special Bomb Technician Anthony Telenko located a bottle of 'PotPermPlus' Potassium Permanganate, which can be used as a strong oxidizing agent, on the top shelf of Climo's bedroom closet. Also located on the closet shelf were separate jars of thermite, sulfuric acid, and lithium aluminum hydride, which can be used as fuels. SABT Telenko further observed soldering irons, wires, circuit boards, and other electrical components in CLIMO's bedroom…"
"Numerous hand drawn schematics of IED circuits was located in Climo's bedroom. SABT Telenko reviewed the hand drawn schematics and determined they were consistent with the items needed to function a timed explosive device."
In 2015, Climo sought to legalize fully automatic weapons in the U.S., according to a petition discovered by journalist Nick Martin.
